Wow. I got there a few minutes before the store opened, counted at least 300 people in front of me and a few hundred more behind me. I expected a line but that was insane. There was one person left in front of me before I could get Leopard and one of the geniuses told him "Sorry, we just ran out." He was joking though. I was about to rip his eyes out of his skull and shove them up his ass so he could watch me kick it.

Thanks for pointing this out. I asked the seller, so I'll just have to wait and see what s/he says. The neck does look strong, though, in my opinion, because it's holding up the screen in the first picture. Maybe the seller just put it down to show what it can do? I don't know.

The neck if I remember correctly is about a $120.00 - 140.00 part then there's all the labor that goes with changing it out. About 1.5 - 2 hrs. Almost all of them wear out over time. They can stay totally upright and stay there for a picture, but if you bump the table, or start to adjust the height, it will just want to go all the way down. (sometimes crashing down breaking the bezel) So its all the way up, or all the way down when the neck goes bad( usually the latter).
It also looks like the bezel ( the frame around the screen) is not quite attached fully, and may be broken and partially coming off. The gap between the two shows what looks like that. See attached picture

What this means is any computer with this ability can transfer data at a rate of 1000 Mbp/s ( 1000 megabits per second AKA, 1 gigabit a second) over Ethernet. This may not seem important to most people, but you may notice slow streaming video at times and the like when using something slower like 10/100.
The model that you are looking at has 10/100 where a Gigabit port would show as 10/100/1000 so making it simple:
10mbs/100mbs/1000mbit/s
10Mbit/s..............10 megabits per second obsolete
100Mbit/s.............100 megabits per second can use cat5 cables
1000Mbit/s...........1000 megabits per second can use cat5e and cat6
Now that I fed you all of that info, here's what it means to you:

The Mac Mini, iMac and Macbooks will all be updated some time soon. The Mac Mini and Macbook will get Core i3 @2.1GHz, with the Intel HD 3000 GPU. iMacs will have a base model with Core i5. The Mini and Macbook will be far more powerful than they are now - the Core 2 Duos are outdated now. It also depends on whether you have got your own keyboard, mouse and display. If you have, and you're happy to use them, the Mac Mini will probably save you a bit of cash.

You might even be able to swap the hard drive right into the new Mac and it should boot just fine depending on the age of the Intel if it can run the same software version. This is handy if you don't want to reinstall everything and keep your old settings and files.

It doesn't magically invalidate my point. The point was to show that there could be a logical explanation for the graph and the submission was stupid. That point was made.
For instance, lacking a scale, let's suppose that graph passes through (0,0), (1,1) and (2,0). This results in an equation of y = -x^2 +2x. However, we notice that to the right of 1, we should have a decreasing dependent variable. However, they share a common point, 1. When x = 1, n = 1 (using the alphabetic rather than the Greek for simplicity's sake). Also, when x = 2, n should be 0, to flip about the point of 1. When x = 0, n should be 2 (again, flipping about 1). This results in n = -x + 2. Solve for x and substitute into above parabolic equation, and you have a graph that both roughly matches what is shown and satisfies those inequalities for n. The best option for the OP since his mother's ipad is still on 3.2.x is to jailbreak it with Spirit or whichever jailbreak allows for unthethered for 3.2.1 and wait for an untethered jailbreak for 4.3 which is (by all information) close to being finished.
This would give you the advantages of the jailbreak, and then you could update in a few weeks to 4.3 and get whatever features you want with that.
He can still jailbreak, just not update to 4.2.1. It's much better to jailbreak the 3.2.1 and wait a few weeks/(days?) for the unthethered jailbreak for 4.3 to come out.

I too have been considering OWC but surely their RAM is just a relabel of another brand?
Everyone's RAM is just a relabel unless you're buying direct from a manufacturer like Infineon. What you're getting with the relabel is a warranty and customer service for said warranty. OWC is totally worth it, IMO.

We're about 30 mins away. Their employees have been coming out periodically taking pictures and giving out water bottles.
The best part is Alan (kid with the fro) has been telling anyone thats asked us why we're waiting in line is that Abercrombie is looking for new models. None of us are exactly "model material" but alotta people have been going along with it. There'll be a video up later tonight, it's priceless! :D

...and this for everyone who suffers from the silly gaudy childish look of OS X and misses the clean elegance of OS 9 (it not necessarily the extension conflicts and the lousy task-threading).
1) The Classic Platinum Theme (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15581). Installable on OS X using either unsanity.com's ShapeShifter or Duality 4
2) X-Assist (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10519) or ASM (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10410) to give you an application switching menu in your menubar.
3) FruitMenu (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12974) to give you back an editable / customizable Apple Menu, to give you a hierarchical menu-view of System Prefs so you don't have to launch the entire %&## System Preferences pane and then reach with your mouse a second time to invoke the specific PrefsPane you want. And to use as a launcher.
4) WindowShade X (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12243), to be able to minimize windows the classic Macintosh way, not like some Windows PC-wannabe. (Will also minimize-in-place to a small icon)

Two choices: you can minimize it practically out of existence by pinning it to the left edge of your screen and then edit com.apple.dock.plist in a text editor, manually changing the tilesize parameter to 1, which will give you a Dock about the size of a pinhead in a place where you won't mouse-over on it very often by accident; or you can nuke it entirely. To nuke it entirely, first copy Dock.app from /System/Library/CoreServices and make that copy a startup item for every user account on your machine (towards the top of the list); then make an AppleScript consisting of tell application "Dock"; quit; end tell, save it as an application, and add that to your startup items (towards the end); then, finally, sudo rm the original Dock.app from within CoreServices. Hickory Dickory, baby :)

I was a little skeptical at first with the ipad, but I bought one for my dad and after using it more and more on the side, I've found more and more uses for it myself.

I know I can get away with using any Apple computer, but when you are spending your $$$ and you frequent rumor sites...you tend to want to see updates at the right time...not after you buy. I will buy regardless of if Apple updates the iBook or TiBook in the next month.

I need some advice on a good guide to selecting a font to go with logos or illustrations pleeease :) I've become quite proficient in illustrator and even made some money, but more often than not I pick a naff font which doesn't do my image any favours.
I have a good selection on my mac, but I'm looking for somewhere or someone that can provide a useful guide...or is it just personal taste? I need to get away from Myriad Pro (I blame apple for that)
