I'm getting a PowerMac sometime soon and want to add a second hard drive pretty much straight away.
I'm looking at two on eBuyer that are priced well but just wondered if anyone had any advice.
Ones I'm looking at are:
Western Digital WD2500JD 250Gb 8mb Cache 7200rpm Serial ATA
or
Maxtor 6L250S0 Diamondmax 10 250GB 7200rpm Serial ATA150 16mb Cache
Thanks
Steve

Incorrect. Turbo boost is "dynamic overclocking". Depending on the current number of cores being used and if additional processing power is required, the CPU will slowly increase the clock rate for the currently active cores. It'll do this incrementally until the thermal operating limit of the processor is reached.
Umm, isn't that pretty much exactly what I described in my OP? Albeit I didn't use the phrase "dynamic overclocking".

Whenever I've needed it, I've rented the D700 when I've needed a full frame, because how far away can Nikon's next prosumer full frame be?
The 5D Mark II came out YEARS ago at this point, which succeeded the 5D, which was the D700's first competitor.
Do we have any ideas/updates on this one?

The Mac Mini, iMac and Macbooks will all be updated some time soon. The Mac Mini and Macbook will get Core i3 @2.1GHz, with the Intel HD 3000 GPU. iMacs will have a base model with Core i5. The Mini and Macbook will be far more powerful than they are now - the Core 2 Duos are outdated now. It also depends on whether you have got your own keyboard, mouse and display. If you have, and you're happy to use them, the Mac Mini will probably save you a bit of cash.

The other thing that comes to mind is if you have a boot floppy you can stick that in and boot it from that, rather than the internal HD

Thank you both very much!
OK, to avoid problems when handling old PPC-Mac DV files on an Intel Mac it might be the safest way to just wait for the new Mac and do it on it from the start.
[quote:]It's the newer versions of iMovie that "do stuff" to your video on import.[quote/:]
whether it "does" good or bad to it, might be another question someone who uses iMovie may perhaps have to answer to me, I guess...

Lets hope it looks like this or better.
Did you guys get the reference in the headline or is it too subtle?
I got it, right when I first read it, I was too busy staring at the iPod though :D

Well I've got iOS 4.2.1 on an iPod touch 4g, and I jailbroke it with the latest greenpoison jb so it didn't have to be tethered, and terminal just crashes right after I start it. When it was jailbroken tethered the terminal didn't work either; I'm guessing it's just not compatible with 4.2.1?
Edit: I just checked what version and what repo it was from: it was Cydia/telesphoreo, version 364.1-10. I also noticed it was designed for iOS 3 so I just got rid of it. Where can I ge a iOS 4 compatible terminal?

Thanks for the tip about PhoneGap.
The part I'm least confident about is the networking (mobile devices connecting to the Mac without any of them having Internet access). I'm not a networking expert so I'm unclear what I need to do.
If they are in wifi range of the Mac then it is just like any other LAN to the devices. They would use the local IP address of the Mac to connect to it and then they can just access web pages as normal.
So they might connect to:
http://192.168.1.1/web_app/
for instance and then it just behaves exactly the same as any other website. Remember if you are just making a website you do not need to worry about the network except to make sure they have WiFi access or a wired connect at all times. Obviously if one of those requirements is not met then they would not be able to get access to the Mac and therefore the web app.

Never had a portable before....Personally, I love using a desktop much more than a laptop but it is convenient, which is part of the reason why I didn't need/want power in a portable.
From what you say, I think you would be fine w/ an iBook rather than a PB.

Lowest - Concierge
2nd Lowest - hourly sales rep(paid low.. like 10 or 9 an hour)
Middle - Product Specialist
The highest being Genius at almost 20 dollars an hour...
The ABSOLUTE HIGHEST - General Manager of the retail store.. and of course the top is: DISTRICT MANAGER.
It's funny how incorrect that is.

Just thought I'd post this. Not only are the Lyson inks better but their CIS system can cut 90% off the ink costs.
I could sure use something like that for my Canon i9900. :p
I checked their link and they don't show it. :(
But I bet the Epson crowd will love it. :D

Although I depend on their apps to get my days work done, I'm starting to get a little cheesed-off with Adobe at the mo.
I very much would like to see CS 1.1 apps fixed before they go charging off with CS2, particularly the buggy-as-hell Illustrator 11. Acrobat 6 too...
